Candace Gaston Turner

Candace Gaston TurnerCandace is a commercial litigator. She has represented business clients in a variety of disputes before federal and state courts and enjoys the courtroom as well as counseling clients on efficient, tactical dispute resolution. Candace has represented some of the largest companies in the United States in complex and high-stakes litigation and has also resolved cases for mid-sized companies and individuals in significant cases for those clients.

Whether in court before a judge or in negotiations with opposing counsel, representing a Fortune 50 company or a local business, in every case Candace is dedicated to providing her clients with decisive and creative lawyering to obtain a just result.

Candace is committed to pro bono work, too, dating to her service in law school as a legal guardian ad litem through the Child Advocacy Law Clinic at the University of Michigan Law School, advocating for the best interests of abused and neglected children.

Before joining A&G, Candace practiced at both large national law firms (Pepper Hamilton LLP and Bryan Cave LLP) and, most recently, with a litigation boutique in Dallas, Texas.

Candace is also an active member of the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago, Inc.

Some examples of Candace’s work are:

  • Successfully argued motion for summary judgment on behalf of Big Three auto manufacturer, resulting in dismissal with prejudice of all claims in the case.
  • Defended top-5 national bank against claims challenging loan enforcement procedures in commercial lending dispute.
  • Advised SBIC fund managers on general and limited partnership law, ensuring compliance with partnership agreements and corporate resolutions.
  • Defended national railroad company against seven-figure demand, resulting in favorable settlement on eve of trial.
